Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn (Illinois) and spent her entire childhood living in Chicago. However, when Amy was in high school, she and her family also resided in the Middle East where her parents, Bob and Barb, taught at the American School. Amy is the younger sister of Betsy, Lori, and brother Joe. Amy has traveled all over Europe on her own and with her family. They were both teachers and were able to travel and camp with each other every summer because of this. They have camped in every state, with the exception of Alaska. Amy has also traveled to Rwanda after the 1994 war to aid relief efforts. Amy displayed her talent for art early through acting in school plays, as well as winning writing contests. She was a promising athlete in high school who participated in the very first 3200-meter relay in Illinois girls track. In college, after an injury, she returned to the theater and performed in a variety on stage, beginning with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy graduated from Knox College in Galesburg (Illinois) Cum laude and graduated with an A.A. East Asian history with a particular focus on Theater. She moved to Chicago shortly after and then studied Improv at the Improv Olympic, and performed in the theater at The Actor's Center. A job as a contract actress on the now defunct soap show Another World (1964) moved her to NYC soon after graduation. The category she was nominated for is "Outstanding supporting actress in a Daytime Drama Series", she was nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards. The most memorable characters are those played by strong women, including Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone ((2000)), Katie Owen and Tom Berenger in Peacemakers(2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods(2003). Carlson currently resides in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and where she is also the co-owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy continues to pursue distinct and varied jobs in the film industry.
